At Goodness Enterprises, we don't believe in simply handing out boxes of food. We believe that everyone in Ipswich and the West Moreton region deserves the ability to shop with absolute dignity, regardless of their financial circumstances.
That is the driving philosophy behind our Give Goodness Food Store, located at our headquarters on Coal Road in Chuwar. Operating as Ipswich's leading social supermarket and food bank alternative, we have created a budget grocery store environment where families can walk the aisles and choose exactly what they need for their households.
What We Offer to the Community
Budget Groceries: Access to pantry staples, meats, and dairy priced generally 30% to 60% below regular retail supermarkets like Coles or Woolworths.
Free Fresh Produce: Generous allocations of rescued fresh fruit, vegetables, and bakery items available at no cost to those doing it tough.
Emergency Hampers: Low-cost, high-value food hampers packed full of essentials for families needing immediate, comprehensive relief.
Op Shop Essentials: A selection of budget clothing, pet food, and household goods.
The most important part? There are no eligibility requirements, no referral letters needed, and no concession cards required to shop with us. Everyone is welcome.
If you or someone you know is struggling with the rising cost of living, our doors are wide open six days a week. Come down, say hello to our team, or donate today to help us keep our shelves stocked.
It is one of the most frustrating cycles for young people and disadvantaged job seekers in Ipswich: You can't get a job without experience, but you can't get experience without a job.
Since 2013, Goodness Enterprises has been actively breaking that cycle. In partnership with the Queensland Government's Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) initiative, we have successfully transitioned over 1,140 individuals into permanent, long-term employment.
Real Skills for Real Careers
We provide fully-paid, six-month traineeships that offer nationally recognized certifications. But our trainees don't just sit in a classroom. They gain hands-on, commercial-grade experience:
Construction: Trainees gain practical experience by building community facilities, upgrading local infrastructure, and constructing crisis accommodation across the region.
Conservation & Eco-Land Management: Trainees work out in the field, regenerating our 43.6-acre Chuwar Conservation Reserve, clearing invasive weeds, and planting native seedlings.
Our dedicated supervisors act as mentors, offering life advice, employability skills, and a listening ear. If you know a young person in Ipswich struggling to find their footing in the workforce, have them express their interest in our next intake today.
Did you know Goodness Enterprises owns and protects 43.6 acres of native bushland right here in Chuwar? Officially zoned as Koala Bushland, the Sandy Creek riparian zone is a critical ecological corridor in South East Queensland.
With rapid urban development happening around us, protecting this green space has never been more vital. Our environmental conservation initiatives are structured as a self-sustaining social enterprise, ensuring a legacy for native flora and fauna.
Koala Kindy & Wildlife Protection
In partnership with the Moggill Koala Hospital, we are developing specialized "Koala Kindy" enclosures within our reserve. These transitional habitats mimic the wild while keeping injured and orphaned koalas safe from predators and traffic as they rehabilitate.
We are also creating a central Outdoor Education Hub. Soon, local schools will be able to visit our reserve for immersive nature trails, wildlife displays, and hands-on conservation education to inspire the next generation of eco-warriors.
If you have a passion for the environment, we host massive community planting days. to get your VIP invite to our next planting event!
When discussing homelessness and housing vulnerability, basic hygiene and personal dignity are often tragically overlooked. For individuals sleeping rough or living out of their cars, finding a safe, private place to take a warm shower or wash clothes is a daily, stressful hurdle.
As Goodness Enterprises prepares for the future, we are executing a master plan for the new GiveGoodness Centre on Tiger Street in West Ipswich. This facility is being designed from the ground up to address these exact needs.
A Wrap-Around Approach to Support
The new Tiger Street facility will feature dedicated, private shower suites and a free commercial laundromat. By building these essential hygiene services right alongside our food relief operations and our community cafe, we are creating a holistic, wrap-around service. When someone comes to us for a hot meal, they will also be able to leave clean, refreshed, and treated with the absolute dignity they deserve.
Furthermore, our future vision includes constructing a specialized housing village to provide short-term crisis accommodation for twenty-eight vulnerable families.
Every single week, the volunteer teams at Goodness Enterprises perform a logistical miracle. Starting as early as 5:00 AM, our refrigerated trucks hit the road, rescuing between 14 to 20 tonnes of surplus food from commercial suppliers and distribution centers.
Instead of heading to landfill and contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, this perfectly good food is rapidly sorted, quality-checked, and diverted straight to the shelves of the Give Goodness Food Store.
Feeding 1,200 Families a Week
This massive rescue operation is the engine that allows us to provide heavily discounted groceries, free fresh produce, and emergency hampers to over 1,200 local families every week.
Furthermore, as the hub of the West Moreton food security network, we distribute rescued food to more than 100 other community agencies and charities in the region.
None of this would be possible without our incredible "Volunteer Village." From truck drivers to shelf stackers, they are the absolute heartbeat of Goodness Enterprises. If you have a few hours to spare each week and want to make a tangible difference, register as a volunteer today.
How do you fund massive community reform without relying entirely on traditional cash donations? You build a sustainable social enterprise. Introducing Goodness Gifts, our innovative B2B trade portal.
Goodness Gifts leverages B2B barter networks (like Bartercard) to sell premium surplus corporate goods—ranging from professional AV equipment and digital mixing consoles to high-end acoustic office furniture.
The Circular Economy in Action
It is a brilliant, circular economy model. Local businesses can acquire the professional gear they need using their accumulated Trade Dollars instead of cash. Goodness Enterprises then takes those Trade Dollars and leverages them within the network to offset our charity’s operational expenses (such as printing, facility maintenance, and upgrades).
The actual cash we saved by using those Trade Dollars is instantly redirected into funding our emergency food hampers, SQW traineeships, and homeless support services.
Whether you can volunteer your time, sponsor an event, or donate to support our food relief operations, your help changes lives right here in our community.
